Mirror Sight - The Beauty of Another Perspective

"Did you ever wonder if the person in the puddle is real, and you're just a reflection of him?"
Calvin and Hobbes

This quote reveals the human nature to question reality, and I've found myself asking this very question many times. I especially like attempting to peek past the edge of the puddle to see what else may lay beyond; the person on the other side always got in my way though, I've asked him to politely move but he just said it back so I've stopped trying. Mirrors have this same ethereal charm, and anytime I brave the opportunity to search that other world something in this one causes me to digress... It's unfortunate, never being able to see much of the other side of the mirror I mean. Sometimes I just imagine myself there and what it would be like. Are all of the images and words reversed and everybody reads backwards? I'd like to know, I'd like to know how life is like there. Is everything mirrored? Maybe, just maybe, are more than just external things mirrored?
I wonder, do maybe the students teach the teacher? The women propose to the men? Do the races trust each other more than themselves? Instead of living in fear of the unknown do they perhaps explore and seek out in order to reach a higher level of understanding? Do they accept change? Do the classes of society reach out to each other and attempt to know what's it's like for the other? Do adolescents summon the courage to be themselves? I've asked these questions many times, but one of them I continously encounter: What do they wonder about us?

"The human understanding is like a false mirror, which receiving rays irregularly, distorts and discolors the nature of things by mingling its own nature with it."
Francis Bacon

I've found myself often stuck in awkward situations with friends, acquaintances, and their problems. I don't mind at all, I'm actually quite flattered, but it seems whenever I give advice it's looked at strangely. This concerned me at first, orginally I thought maybe everybody else was just an idiot for not seeing things my way and they should change. I soon had an epiphany when I later ignored my father's advice and things ended badly for me. Nobody was being an idiot, they just failed at using the skill of the genius: seeing from different perspectives. This skill is invaluable when dealing with conflicting situations (And it helps see from more than just your eyes when attempting to win an argument/confrontation). Sight from another perspective is just like looking at your reflection, back onto you, you see more than you could see before. This I call, Mirror Sight

"It is neither good nor bad, but thinking makes it so."
William Shakespeare

This quote from Shakespeare reenforced another benefit from the ideal of Mirror Sight: perhaps not only does seeing from another's eyes help with dealing with a negative situation, but it could also elliminate it being negative. Imagine this: A friend comments on something your wearing, a new pair of shoes or shirt/blouse perhaps, and you're offended by it, you get angry with your friend for insulting you, and for the rest of the day you despise them for being condescending. In truth they only made a light comment of how it could of been improved, and in truth you were already sour with them because of a previous fight and anything they might say you automatticaly see as bad. Something similiar, and more people would agree with being a negative experience, would be breaking up with someone. Well, yes it seems bad, but change how you look at it; now you have more free-time, you learned from your mistakes, you can find someone you like better, the possibilities are endless! Mirror Sight. I first learned it from my studies of the Law of Attraction. I won't go into detail about it here, but I recommend looking into it.
Looking at something differently can be a revelation, and it can help you overcome that obstinate aspect of life. Try not to enshroud yourself with the cloud of only one pair of eyes, but see with the clarity of the sun and moon. See from the other side of the Mirror.

  1. The first quote and your response reminded me of a poem by Shel Silverstein: "Reflection"
Each time I see the Upside-Down Man
    Standing in the water,
I look at him and start to laugh,
    Although I shouldn't oughtter.
    For maybe in another world
    Another time
    Another town,
Maybe HE is right side up
    And I am upside down.

This post is pretty deep, and quite useful at this poin in time. And don't worry, your advice is wonderful.
